Balloon Launch in Salina, Kansas

The MAC (Member Advisory Committee) for Region 3 hosted a balloon launch to celebrate Recovery Month. 55 Balloons were launched September 14, 2009 for the 55 counties the MAC members represent. The below statement was attached to the balloons, in hopes that if the balloon lands or pops, the cards will land in someone’s hands and in turn educate the community about treatment and recovery. September is National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month (Recovery Month). Recovery Month celebrates the positive impact of treatment for addiction in communities throughout the nation. September is set aside to recognize the strides made in treatment and to educate the public that addiction is a treatable public health problem that affects us all. This vital observance lets people know that addiction can be managed effectively when the entire community supports those who suffer from this treatable disease. (2009 NAADAC)
