NEW! Pictures of Red Ribbon Week 2009! This year ValueOptions® is teaming up with USD345 Seaman Elementary Schools to do Red Ribbon Week. Red Ribbon Week is a way the community and schools can raise awareness, education and prevention of substance use to our young citizens. This year ValueOptions® Prevention, Education and Outreach Coordinator will teach over 1900 students on the prevention of substance use as well as a curriculum on being alike/different. Activities for the week include:- Coloring pictures to hang throughout the community at local businesses. Some of the pictures are of a bear that states “Drugs are Unbearable” a monkey that states “Don’t Monkey with Drugs”Those North Topeka businesses collaborating with the effort are as follows:
- Gambino’s
- McDonald’s – Hunters Ridge
- McDonald’s-Topeka Blvd
- Buzzards Pizza
- Interactive Physical Fitness
- The PAD
- Dillons
- Hardees
- Spangles
- Maximus
- Signing a certificate of accomplishment for completing Red Ribbon Week.
- Signing a Red Ribbon banner that will be posted in the gyms of each school
- Dressing up each day of the week:
- Monday-Boots “Give Drugs the Boot”
- Tuesday- Hats- “Put a cap on drugs”
- Wednesday- Silly Socks- “Sock it to Drugs”
- Thursday – Wear Red in honor of Red Ribbon Week
- Friday –Glasses – “Shade out Drugs”
- Wearing Red Ribbons throughout the week
- Passing out snack bags with pencils, stickers, suckers, and a statement about the collaboration of Red Ribbon Week to take home to their families.
